Candlelight Ghost Tours at Fort Delaware State Park are offered on select Saturdays and Sundays at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. every night throughout the summer. ¬†Dates still available are July 17 and 31, and August 1, 14, 15 and 28.¬†Ghost Tour participants will take a candlelit tour through the spookiest parts of the Civil War fortress on Pea Patch Island. ¬†The popular tours are led by ghost host favorite Ed Okonowicz, who shares the history and some mysterious tales of Fort Delaware.¬†The tours are $20 per person. ¬†The 8 p.m. tours sell out quickly, but for those who prefer to tour the eerie fort with some daylight left, there are a limited number of seats available for the 6 p.m. tours. ¬†Reservations may be made by calling 1-877-98-PARKS (1-877-987-2757) or visiting www.destateparks.com.¬†Fort Delaware, located on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River was the site of a Civil War prison in the 1860s. ¬†A bustling community grew in and around the fort in its heyday making it one of the largest cities in Delaware at one time. ¬†Fort Delaware hosted the SciFi Channel‚Äôs Ghost Hunters for two special broadcasts in 2008. ¬†Because of the popularity of the tours, September dates of the 11, 12, 25 and 26 have been added.¬†A full schedule and more information are available at www.destateparks.com or by calling 302- 834-7941.
