If you hear a steady siren for 3-5 minutes, tune your radio to an Emergency Alert System (EAS) station for information.

The following radio stations are a part of the EAS:

The Delaware Center for Horticulture will be in town on Wednesday, June 20th from 4:00-6:00PM to check on the new trees that have been planted around town. You are welcome to join them as they stroll around town in their purple tshirts. They will also be available to answer your questions concerning your new trees.

There will be a “Home Health Hazard Workshop” on Wednesday, June 20th in the Community Room at the Library. Through the Department of Public Health’s partnership with Delaware City Environmental Coalition, this event will offer free green cleaning supplies, as well as participants being able to learn how to clean with less toxic products and safer methods of cleaning. At this event, participants can sign up for a free confidential home health hazard assessment through the Delaware Public Health and get $50 of free green cleaning supplies for participating in this assessment. Homes can be assessed for mold, lead, radon, and a variety of other environmental hazards. Available for Delaware City residents only. Residents can also request an assessment by calling 1-800-464-HELP.

Delaware City held their elections on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Congratulations to the three newly elected Council Members Betty Barrett, Paul Johnson and Megan Titus. They will serve for two years. They were sworn in on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.

Main Street Delaware City, Inc. turned to Biohabitats to assess the current status of ecological resources in the project area, establish priorities for the protection of existing ecological infrastructure, and make recommendations for ecological restoration and management measures in order to support a thriving eco-tourism program.

At the november 21, 2011 mayor and council meeting, the Council voted to change the recycling pick up to every Other week. The change is still in compliance with the State’s new recycling law. The state law reguires every Other week recycling. The new bi-weekly recycling pick-up will begin with monday, December 5, 2011. Your recycling will continue to be picked up On mondays.
